POLICY

Main Street Music offers the value-added service of providing advantageous rates for the consignment, trade-in or purchase of musical instruments and related items for wanting individuals in good credit standing. Items must be in good working condition, or indicated clearly otherwise and must be "warrantee able" by Main Street Music for a period of 30 days.

Trade-Ins & Purchases. Over time, Main Street Music reserves the right to increase or decrease the price of traded-in or purchased items based on market demand. Merchandise being sold in exchange for traded-in items MAY NOT BE DISCOUNTED below our regular or published sale price. Trade-in and purchase rates for acoustic pianos do not follow the table above but will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Consignment Items. If within 30 days of purchase, the buying customer wishes to return a consigned item (in compliance with the standard 30 day satisfaction guarantee), Main Street Music continues to retain the right to return the item to the consignor if unsold. It is Main Street Music's sole responsibility for the billing and collection of payment from the buying customer and provides this service as part of the consignment agreement between the consignor and Main Street Music. Payment will be made to the consignor by cheque and only after 45 days have elapsed since the sale of the consigned item. Payment will be mailed unless otherwise noted. Main Street Music may remove a consignment item from the sales floor whenever it so chooses, and may request at any time that a consignor pickup consigned items for any reason.

Acoustic Pianos. The customer will receive 70% (not 80%) of the selling price for consignment acoustic piano sales. The customer is responsible for the costs of delivery of the piano to Main Street Music and tuning/service to make it suitable to sell which will be payable prior to or immediately after delivery to Main Street Music. Any further service required during the pianos' placement on the floor will be deducted when payment is issued. Trade-in and purchase rates for acoustic pianos do not follow the table above but will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Definitions. Consignment is the act of consigning, which is placing goods in the hand of another, but retaining ownership until the goods are sold. In the context of sale it is understood that the consignee (the party to which goods are sent or the consignment seller) pays the consignor (the party by which the goods are consigned or the person with items to sell) only after the sale, from its proceeds.

Trade-ins are merchandise accepted as partial payment for a new purchase.
Purchases are merchandise accepted in return for cash, cheque or credit on account.
